Tutor Intelligence builds Data Factory to train robot AI in the real world
Tutor Intelligence is running 100 Sonny semi-humanoid robots in its headquarters to train its Ti0 vision-language-action model, using remote teleoperators to collect real-world data.
Founded in 2021 out of MIT-CSAIL, Tutor Intelligence raised $34 million in Series A funding in December 2025. The company operates DF1, a 'kindergarten' facility with 100 bimanual manipulators, where remote 'tutors' teleoperate the robots to generate training data for the Ti0 VLA model.
Tutor Intelligence is part of the first cohort of the Physical AI Fellowship, receiving support from AWS, NVIDIA, and MassRobotics. It uses AWS for cloud compute and NVIDIA CUDA for modeling, highlighting the infrastructure needed to scale robot learning from human demonstration.
